Located on the historic Greenmarket Square in the centre of old Cape Town, the square was built in 1696. In 1834 on this very spot the declaration of the abolishment of slavery was read. The construction of the Inn On The Square building was completed in 1941 and is now listed as a national monument, renowned for its superb freestone facade. The market infront of the hotel has been an institution since 1980 and is setup every morning at sunrise and packed up again at sunset.
